Getting Started

What is OneScribe? +

OneScribe is an intelligent document scanning app that understands 83 different document types. Unlike other scanners that flatten everything into text blobs, OneScribe extracts meaningful insights—expense tracking from receipts, risk detection from contracts, action items from meeting notes—all powered by on-device AI.

What devices are supported? +

OneScribe requires iOS 26.0 or later. AI features (summaries, action items, Data Cards) require a device with Apple Intelligence support: iPhone 15 Pro or later, or iPad with M-series chip. Basic scanning works on any device running iOS 26.

How do I scan my first document? +

Open OneScribe, tap the scan button, and point your camera at a document. OneScribe auto-detects edges and captures when ready. You can add multiple pages before processing. Once scanned, OneScribe automatically identifies the document type and generates relevant Data Cards.

Scanning & Quality

How do I get the best scan quality? +

Use good lighting (natural light works best), place the document on a contrasting background, keep the camera steady, and ensure the document is flat.

Does OneScribe work with handwriting? +

Yes. OneScribe uses Apple's Vision framework which recognizes both printed text and handwriting. For best results with handwriting, use dark ink on light paper with clear letter formation.

Does it work with Kindle Scribe? +

Yes! OneScribe was originally designed for Kindle Scribe users. It's optimized for e-ink displays. Just photograph your Kindle Scribe pages like any other document.

AI Features & Data Cards

What are Data Cards? +

Data Cards are type-specific intelligence displays that surface exactly what matters for each document type. Receipt Cards show vendor, total, items, and tax. Contract Cards highlight parties, dates, renewal terms, and red flags. Medical Cards organize provider info, medications, and appointments. OneScribe supports 83 different document types, each with its own specialized Data Card.

Is AI processing private? +

100% private. All AI processing uses Apple Intelligence, which runs entirely on your device. Your documents never leave your iPhone or iPad. No cloud servers, no data collection.

Why don't I see AI features? +

AI features require Apple Intelligence, which needs iOS 26.0 or later, iPhone 15 Pro/Max or iPad with M-chip, and Apple Intelligence enabled in Settings.

Exporting

Where can I export to? +

Use the iOS Share Sheet to export to any app: Apple Notes, Reminders, Calendar, Contacts, Bear, Files, Email, Messages, and any other app that supports sharing. You can also export as PDF for print-ready documents.

Why isn't my formatting preserved? +

Structure preservation depends on clear visual hierarchy in your original document. Ensure consistent indentation in your notes, use clear list markers (bullets, numbers), and separate sections with spacing.

Troubleshooting

Export failed—what do I do? +

Check your internet connection (if exporting to a cloud-based app), verify the receiving app is working properly, and try sharing again. If issues persist, try restarting OneScribe.

Text recognition is poor +

Improve lighting, hold camera steady, use dark ink on light paper for handwriting, ensure document is flat (not curved), and clean your camera lens.

The app is slow or crashes +

Restart the app, make sure you're on the latest iOS version, free up device storage if low. If issues persist, contact support with your device model and iOS version.
